Open Day — the new exam

On Open Day, our students ranging from ages 9 - 17 from our programs celebrate the completion of their course by showcasing and exhibiting their projects to the public.

The Showcase Projects can range from anything from upcycling their old toys, to Internet of Things (IoT) projects.

Open Day happens as frequently as every quarter of the year.

• Open Day is the assessment that allows students to showcase what they have learned in the form of a project.
• Digital Badge, an outcome of the Showcase Project, is
  • an acknowledgment of a student’s effort in learning,
  • but NOT a proof of students showing up and being busy following instruction no matter its outcome.
  • Mentors nominate a Digital Badge, and the Coordinator approves the nomination
• Wins of a vibrant Open Day from the following perspectives:
  • Students - projects & badges can be added to their portfolio
  • Parents - proof that students have grown a lot
  • Partner - marketing event
• Showcase Project is the project they will present during Open Day. It can be graded on a 3-level scale (⚠️ only Competent & Exemplary will be awarded a Digital Badge)
  • Try Again - project doesn’t meet the Learning Objectives
  • Competent - project meets the Learning Objectives
  • Exemplary - project exceeds the Learning Objectives
• Evidence to support the awarded Digital Badge
  • Relate to Showcase Project’s Learning Objectives
  • Feedback on students about being a Fearless Heart

Before Open Day
