💡 Students to have fun with stretching and playing around

This icebreaker is a fun, quick energizer activity that can be used to get everyone moving and laughing. This is a variation of the classic hand game, rock-paper-scissors game, but requires people to get on their feet, move, and play in a team, rather than as an individual.

💭 This icebreaker works great in a class of 6 students and more!

Instructions

  1. Explain the instructions to students. Instead of using hands to represent rock, paper and scissor, we will be using our whole body.

  2. Mentor demo the poses to students (get everyone to try with you together)

Rock – bend down and hug your knees to look like a rock

Scissors – stand with legs shoulder-width apart and both hands on hips to look like a scissor

Paper – stand with legs shoulder-width apart and both hands straight up to look like flat paper

Untitled

  1. Divide the class into two groups.

  2. The first person in each group will start the battle.

  3. Mentor facilitates the battle by using a prompt ~ 3… 2… 1… SHOOT!

  4. On “SHOOT”, the first person in each group will need to strike their pose.

📢 Reminder: Rock beats scissors, scissors beat paper, and paper beats rock.

  5. The winner will move behind their group and remain standing.

  6. The loser will move behind their group and sit/squat down.

  7. The game ends when one group has all of its members down.

  8. The group with at least one student standing WINS!
